Inspired by Audrey

It is a great day when I can combine friends, work and creativity. Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend some hours with my oldest friend Annie and of all places, the majority of our day was spent where we played most of our childhood...behind our neighboring houses.

Annie met up with me at The Powder Room, where I did her makeup as for a bridal look that was slightly inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face.....We then decorated her limbs with simple, yet very sparkly jewelry from the shop.

Did I say that we made a veil? Well we did, out of soft pink tulle and a hair clip, along with a faux engagement ring. And why not? When we played back here years and years ago we just used dandelions on our fingers instead. I know that my sweet friend got a kick out of it as we joked of her "big rock!".

I think that muted browns fit Annie perfectly and although it seems like two times the amount of makeup that she usually wears, she looks like herself. No cake makeup here, it's important to look yourself, but to remember that when those pictures are flashing that it is always good to have defined your features a little further than usual, so that they translate in film.

Adding soft hair pieces are a great way to spruce up a simple bun and compliment the undertones in your skin.

All in all it was a fun day spent with a great friend like old times: playing with makeup and jewelry. Thank you Annie for supporting me and being gorgeous!

i think i am in love!

{ban.do, handmade vintage headbands, started June 2008}
 I have to say that the blog world is amazing; you can discover loads in the matter of one quiet hour at work! This morning I caught up on my favorite blogs and stumbled onto Rue Mag...check it out( http://www.ruemag.com/issues/issue-one/) ..inside their first issue was an article about two fabulous women celebrating the second birthday of their accessories company ban.do ( http://www.shopbando.com/ ). Looking at this site is so inspiring and I am now wearing bubble gum pink lipstick because of it!

It is refreshing to see women topping their gorgeous crowns with sequined hearts, large bows and a mess of beautiful tulle. There is no denying that the head gear at the royal wedding was stunning, but I think that Jen & Jamie of ban.do swing the same idea in an American way. In the states, women are drawn to vintage femininity with the twist of modern flare.

Wearing large head pieces can be daring and some people might not get it, but remember that life is short so decorate it with sequins, tulle and happiness that "yeah, you rocked it" is what those staring people are really thinking.

Welcome to....The Powder Room

The idea of work usually walks hand in hand with negative feelings. So I feel completely lucky to say that an opportunity has been given where I can combine my two loves; fashion and skin care! The Powder Room is a place that when you walk in, you take in the amazing creativity and vision of Jenn Curtice.....along with a pink claw foot tub!

{mirror in treatment room reflecting front/retail area}

This cozy boutique consists of an overwhelming amount of jewelry, hair accessories and love & toast products (most peoples mouths drop at the sight of all the glitz!). The idea that a person gets when they walk in (as Jenn intended!), is the sense of an amazing collection of accessories that a girl would fill their bathroom...or powder room with!

{a collection of headbands ($4-$12) on the unforgettable claw foot tub}

Separate from the retail is the treatment room where facials and waxing are performed, the real fun! Through facials and at home product recommendations, Dermalogica is the product we use to meet the individuals skin care needs.

It's so lucky to be able to be surrounded by such creativity and be able to add to it! Jenn and The Powder Room create the perfect cocktail of fun for Missoula, it's just what this town needs and the fact I get to work here is the lemon twist on top.

faking the weather

Well Montana has proven itself today in that it's weather is never predictable. Snow. In. April. Yeah, not fun. So I find myself reaching for some bight, invigorating product to trick my mind into spring as I'm bundled up in sweaters yet again. Luckily I'm fortunate to work in a place (The Powder Room) with more bright things than I can settle on, for this snowy day I land on a royal blue sequined Tam hat.

Fortunately this choice gives the appearance that one is appropriately dressed for snow, but since its Montana the snow will find a way to fall even when it is not frigidly cold...
